Art Gallery

Located on the second floor in the historic tower, a collection of 35 oil paintings depicts the life of Marcus and Narcissa Whitman. The gallery is free and open to the public daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Artist Dave Manuel began this project in 1972 under commission by local businessman, Barney Tomlinson.  The historic details were meticulously researched by Mr. Manuel and entries from Narcissa Whitman's personal journal and correspondence inspired many of the paintings.  The collection was completed in 1976.  The paintings are listed as the official likeness of the Marcus Whitman Adventure in the Bureau of Arts and Science in Washington D.C.
