The Foundry's Focus on Street Art: "Graffiti Writers" Exhibit
September 12, 2016
About five minutes away from the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center is the Foundry Vineyards/Walla Walla Foundry. Previously operating only within the confines of the wine business, a savvy decision on the part of the owner and the company’s president combined the Foundry Vineyards with the work of art powerhouses such as Dale Chihuly, Maya Lin, Jime Dine, Deborah Butterfield, Robert Arneson, Matthew Barnet, and Kiki Smith. Now, the Foundry Vineyards prides itself on sui generis exhibits of edgy, avant-garde art.
The Foundry’s current exhibition, “Graffiti Writers,” was curated by Lisa Anderson, and contains paintings from such notorious street artists as Claw, Snake 1, Stay High 149, King 157, Apex, and Ichabod. Anderson culled the works from a private collection, and this is the first time any of them have been exhibited in public. Make plans to see his exciting display soon, as it will remain on view only until October 29, 2016.
