Around Wine Country

Red, White, and Lavender Blue

July 01, 2017

This Independence Day, the air will be filled with the smell of hot dogs and hamburgers sizzling on grills, blaring horns and crashing cymbals will accompany bands marching to the sounds of Sousa, and a dazzling array of fireworks will illuminate night skies nationwide as we come together to celebrate our most American holiday. Guests of the Marcus Whitman are invited to come early and stay for the holiday for the events and activities below.

On July 1st and 2nd, the Gesa Powerhouse Theatre will host the first annual Walla Walla Movie Crush. This cinematic treat will feature a heady mix of short films from a variety of filmmakers. Fireworks, food, and fun will all be on hand at Walla Walla’s scenic Pioneer Park during this year’s Fourth of July in the Park on Tuesday, July 4th. Finally, don’t leave without a visit to the Blue Mountain Lavender Farm. The farm will be open on July 4th from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Guests can delight in the fragrance of lavender in bloom, and can pick their own to take home. Visit the farm’s retail shop, or enjoy a picnic on the grounds while cooling off with complimentary lavender lemonade.
